Acol at BBO - Howto ...

Get 8 players. Ideally these will be in two teams of 4 and you will be the captain of one of these teams, but four pairs playing for fun or even 8 willing players will suffice!

In BBO, "Click to Play or Watch Bridge!", then select "Team Matches" (just below the bottom) and then hit the large purple "Create Team Match" button.

The following screen will appear -

Optionally enter a "name of match" and a "description".

Enter the names of one or more directors. Include yourself. Type the BBO names of each director with a ~ between each on (eg : eddieu~sheilz~jandrew~shintaro). It is a good idea to have at least one, preferably two, directors in each team - that allows for disconnections and the need to substitute for missing players.

Enable the "barometer"

"Allow silent" kibitzers, don't "Allow Undos" - this is practice for serious bridge.

As captain of team 1, invent a name for your team (eg "Good Guys"), press TAB, enter your partners name, TAB (this will be omitted from now), then both other members of your team for West and East, then your own. Now enter an equally fictional (and polite) team name for your opponents, and follow the same order for their team (captain's partner, then the other two, then the captain in south).

You are now ready to "Create Match" - all the players will be invited to join the match. It is possible that somebody may have connection issues or misclick, so sometimes this is a matter of try and try again.

You will now play 8 boards at each of two tables; this is only HALF the match. For the second half, follow the same directions, but "rotate" Team 2 by 90 degrees, and make sure that there are still two Directors on each table.
