This will be a series of lessons based on the EBU’s
Modern Acol specification.

These classes will be run by Mike Collier (jmcilkley)
who is a
qualified bridge teacher with 10 years experience and has taught Modern
Acol for the past 3 years.

The classes will be different from
those run before in the Acol Club as they will be supplemented by
notes, exercises and tests that you can receive by email. A
new email
account has been set up (modernacol@gmail.com)
and you can register for
the classes by sending an email to that address. There is no
need to
put anything in the email – it is just so we can send information to
you. Registering is not essential to attending the lesson but
you will
benefit from the information that will be sent to you.

We are not sure
how fast the classes will go so it’s hard to say how many lesson there
will be – probably at least 20, with a possibility of more advanced
classes to follow.

The classes should be suitable for both beginners
and intermediate players and it will be assumed that you already know
the basics of bridge and can count to 13.
|
The philosophy will be
that you should not just learn how to bid in a parrot-like way but that
you should also understand why. Class member will play
prepared hands
that have at least one relevant lesson to the bidding and sometimes
also lessons in card play.
