Acol at BBO

 1 How many ? :
  a) Your trio must play at least 6 matches (each of 10 boards).  Click here to find out what a match involves.
  b) All your matches must be played within the calendar month.
  c) You can be a member of more than one trio.  Be aware that you will need to have the time for that extra commitment.
2 Choose a Captain or Coordinator
a) You will find it a lot easier to choose a Captain, share your diary availability and let the Captain arrange all the matches.
b) Make sure that the webmaster knows who is the Captain.
3 Arrange a match (using BBO chat) :
  a) Check the List of Trios/Pairs and find a trio which you have not already played.  Please note -
>   You may not play the same trio twice.
>   Where a particular player is in two trios, they are different trios and you can play both of those trios.
b) Watch out on BBO for the first named member (the Captain) of that trio and propose a date and time for a match.
Use BBO chat or BBO mail.  If you are comfortable with disclosing your email address to each other - use email, that might well be quicker.
c) The trio you choose may well already have a full complement of matches arranged and be unable to play against you.  Be prepared to look for other opponents - allow time for the search.
d) When you arrange your match, remember that you are going to play 10 boards (perhaps one or two more).  Please allow about 90 minutes for the match.
e) Please try to arrange your match well in advance.  Other trios will have playing commitments, it may take longer than you think to arrange a match and you will want to spread your matches over the month.  Remember - the match must be finished before midnight on the last day of the month (UK time).
 4 Arrange a match (fixed times) :
a) As an experiment, we have fixed a few times in each week when we hope that trios will login and play any other trio then available.  Those (UK) times are -
>   Monday to Friday  :  8.00pm
>   Saturday  :  8.00am,  4.00pm,  8.00pm
>   Sunday  :  10.00am,  4.00pm
b) Arranging your matches by BBO chat (or email) remains the preferred option.
5 Using the message board :
a) As an experiment, we are going to have a message board on the site (live from Sunday 21 May 2006).
b) At first we expect that the best use of the board will be to :
>   Advertise a trio's availability (with the actual match arranged as above).
>   Advertise the date and time of matches arranged - as a reminder to the players and an invitation to kibbers.
6 When and Where ? :
This league is part of the fun of joining the Acol Club.  We want to encourage kibbers to watch, learn and enjoy.  Please arrange your matches for times that will allow others to watch.
a) Be aware of international time differences.
b) We suggest that you use UK time throughout.  That might save possible confusion.
c) There are many tables set in the Acol Club at 8.00am, 4.00pm and 8.00pm (UK time) every day.  These are good times to arrange your match.
d) There are lessons in the Acol Club (Wednesday at 5.00pm and Sunday at 8.00am and 8.00pm) and Teams Matches on Sunday morning at 10.00am.  These times are best avoided.
e) Please set up your table in the Acol Club.  This will attract a gallery of Acol players which is good for you and good for them.

Please note -
This website does not have the facilities or time to be a match maker or diary secretary.
Be pro-active arrange your own matches.
